Pretty good food. We tried the croquettes, black sesame chicken and the thukpa. All of them were amazing. For desserts, we had the creme brulee which was good too.

Went to Khaar’s grand opening last night (Saturday) in Sunnyvale, and it did not disappoint. The ambience alone is worth the visit clean, comfortable, well put together space!!! Turnaround time was pretty good too food came out hot and piping, without missing any flavor. I ordered the thukpa n it was a standout. I requested the server if chef could swap the noodles for extra vegetables and momos instead, and it worked beautifully🥰 I am pretty picky with my momo’s but their momos were melt-in-your-mouth and hit every umami note. What really made the night, though, was the whole package. The owners were warm and attentive, checking in without hovering. They had live music for the opening, and the singers played songs that took me straight back to growing up.A full-circle moment where the food, the music, and the room all come together. Highly recommend!!!

Being from Northeast India, KHAAR felt like a beautiful taste of home and grateful that my friend took me there to celebrate our unique 30 +years of friendship. The flavors were authentic, and thoughtfully elevated especially the Khaar Croquette and Til ( black sesame) Chicken! A truly wonderful experience, so proud to see our cuisines represented so beautifully in Sunnyvale. ❤️ Definitely a place I’d love to visit again!

Khaar is such a wonderful addition to the Bay Area dining scene! ❤️ When my friend came to visit from Pennsylvania, I wanted to take her somewhere a little special, and Khaar was one place I knew would be worthwhile. We had such a lovely experience, from the beautiful ambience and thoughtful decor to the warmth of the space. What made me especially happy was seeing an Assamese restaurant here in the Bay Area. It’s wonderful to see the food and culture of Assam represented so beautifully. The food was delicious, and I especially recommend the croquettes and Golden Blossom. I also loved exploring the menu and discovering so many wonderful dishes. We will definitely be back! ❤️

We went to Khaar for the first time on their grand opening day, which honestly is probably the *worst* day to judge a restaurant 😄\. But somehow, it felt like they had it all under control\. We were welcomed with complimentary Assam tea served in the cutest little clay pots, and it was so refreshing\. We also got to try their new cocktail menu, which was really good\. The **Old Fashioned is amazing**, BTW\! We wanted to try EVERYTHING on the menu because this is such a special addition to the area, especially being a restaurant representing **Northeast Indian cuisine, with a special focus on Assam**\. And no, please don’t confuse Northeast India with Nepal\. **Appetizers** We tried the lotus stem, chaat and pani puri\. This was my first time having lotus stem as a restaurant appetizer, and I absolutely devoured it\! We were a large group, and I thought the portion sizes were generous and great for sharing\. **Main Course** One thing I really appreciated is that many of the dishes aren’t overly spicy, making this a very **kid\-friendly place** while still showcasing the flavors of the region\. We ordered the pomfret, stir\-fried noodles, Fish Tenga, which is tomato\-based, goat curry, dal and Black Sesame Pork\. There was so much I wanted to try\! **Dessert** I really wanted the cheesecake, but by this point we were ALL so full\. My kid went for the fried ice cream and honey noodles, and those honey noodles were fantastic\. Perfectly fried and not overly sweet\. I did not get a share of the ice cream\. 😁 For a brand\-new restaurant, on their **very first grand opening day**, with curious first\-time guests, repeat customers, a packed menu and a million things happening at once, I’d say the team at Khaar **absolutely nailed it**\. They drank from the firehose of restaurant operations with a smile, patience and genuine effort to make every customer feel taken care of\. **Congratulations to the entire Khaar team\!** What a wonderful addition to our community\. I can’t wait to come back and try the dishes we didn’t get to this time\.

Me and my family dine in yesterday and this place was such a pleasant surprise. The Golden Blossoms were a great way to start, beautifully presented, light and full of flavor. The Heritage Black Sesame Chicken was the standout for me. We also ordered the Goat Chop Curry, and that was probably the dish, I would come back for. The goat was tender and the curry was rich without being overly heavy. We finished with the Black Sesame Cheesecake, which sounded unusual at first but turned out to be excellent. Beautiful interiors, relaxed atmosphere and genuinely attentive service. We are definitely locking in this restaurant in our list. Would happily come back.

We tried Khaar on the grand opening day and the food, including presentation and the decor inside the restaurant were all outstanding. We tried a bunch of different items on the menu. The pomfret, chilli chicken and Khaar croquettes stood out instantly. Paired with a mocktail every bite tasted delicious. The goat chop in my mains was extremely flavourful and tender. The rice that came along with the goat totally enhanced the dish. We also ordered their signature sesame chicken, pork and some butter chicken and fried-rice for kids. The black rice pudding was hit. This is not your typical north indian place with the typical indian menu. Please go with an open mind and just get ready to enjoy the burst of flavors. The only thing I regret is not ordering was the blossom root veg appetizer. Saving it for next time! Overall a must try, great sit down dinner place in downtown Sunnyvale.

So excited we finally have authentic Northeast Indian food in the US, right here in Sunnyvale. Khaar completely exceeded expectations. The smoky, fermented flavors and fresh herbs bring back real home-cooked memories with a smart, modern presentation. Don’t sleep on the Khaar Croquettes and Bamboo Blaze Wings, and honestly, the vegetarian dishes and specialty drinks are just as stellar. Warm, cozy ambiance, fantastic hospitality, and genuinely unique food. A massive gem for the Bay Area food scene, can’t wait to come back!
